Progress on the mystery

I have only been working on my Old Tobacco Road mystery quilt today, and I am happy about the result so far. 116 4patches and 4 pinwheels. I also used the end when I did subcut for the 4patches, and cut these 1,5" wide, did sew them together and cut them to 2,5" blocks. Do not have a plan with them yet, but if I get a hole bunch, maybe I'll use them for a border or something, or a scrap Irish chain quilt. I've wanted to the Irish chain for a while, so maybe??
I think this mystery is so exciting to do, and I know I'll learn a lot about scrap quilts. I really like those, and I know I'll be doing a lot more later too. I know this mystery quilt is going to be a huge one, so maybe I'll get one of my own to throw on my bed? I hope so:-) I really like the way Bonnie makes the scrap quilts, and I honestly made all of my 4patches without a pin!! I used only my stiletto, and it worked great, just as long as I didn't speed the pieces through the machine. The pinwheels I did not take any chance with, so I did pin those:-) *lol*

Old Tobacco Road Mystery quilt

I'm taking part of a mystery quilt:-) I started early this morning when i got the first part of Bonnie's Old Tobacco Road Mystery Quilt. I am so excited! This is fun!
Started cutting a hole bunch

of neutrals this morning, and in the evening I started cutting some of the other fabrics I think I will use to make the 4 patches. I'm not sure if I am gonna use them all, but the left overs will be used for other projects if they don't. Anyway, I will try to get this done without thinking too much about colors, because I really like the scrappy look in quilts like this:-) Maybe it's so much fun to do, that I will make an other one in different colors later? Who knows. I'm excited to see the next part of the mystery, and I think it will be released pretty soon:-)

Almost there....

The Advent table runner is almost finished. I finished piecing it today, and I am almost done with the quilting. Only the outer border that needs quilting now. I have to add the appliquéd hearts and the binding, and it's done:-) I don't have much fancy seems on my Bernina, so I just put some stars randomly as I quilted.
Then it's two more that waits to get finished. I am done piecing them, so I guess I'll be finished with them in the next few days.

The days go so fast, and it's soon weekend again. I hope to get time to sew some more in the weekend, and I am curious about the mystery quilt Bonnie is up to. She'll give the first instructions on Friday(tomorrow), and I think I'll take a part of the mystery this time. I have only been following all the other ladies doing the previous mysteries. We'll see...

Disappearing 9patch

After having a weekend with some terrible headache (migraine) and no sewing, finally I could have some time with my sewing machine again yesterday :-)
I have seen several of the disappearing 9patch quilts on the web, and I have wanted to do one for so long. And I also wanted to make something not so big, to practice quilting on. I think I'll to try to make a babyquilt or something of the blocks, but we'll see. I have no idea yet, how this is going to be quilted, but maybe with some light pink thread?
I have only pieced the purple blocks in rows till now, for the advent table runners, but I will try to do some more with them today. This is a picture of the fabrics I've used. I really love them!







Just a picture of the quilt in red and neutrals. I have to buy more neutrals before I can do more with this. I have used almost all of my light prints on this and the "My blue heaven", so it's staying in the UFO-bin for so long...




On Saturday I received a message on my blog from Gail Pan, and I was thrilled!!! I went to her blog, like she asked me to, and I feel so lucky!! She did draw my name among the three lucky winners for her new pattern "Poppy's sewing set". You can see it here. I look so forward to get the pattern from her, because I really love it, especially the pincushion. It is sooo beautiful!
Cannot wait to get started on it! So this one is for you Gail:-)

Busy week...

Then it's back to business again. The kids are back on school again, and no more lazy days. But since it's the end of the week, it is so nice it's a couple of days off, before it's off to work/school again:-)


Been sewing a lot of blocks for a project from the magazine called Quiltemagasinet. It is a table runner for Advent. It's a pattern from AnnAKa
I just love her patterns, she is one of the most talented designers from Norway, that's for sure!
I'll post some pictures of it tomorrow, I guess I'll be able to piece it together then:-)

Project finished

Summer holidays are over, and we finally had some lovely sunny days, so I did not get much sewing done. But I finished a table runner I started on two years ago, and I am pretty satisfied with the result. I really love the blue and grey fabrics.
I hope to get some more sewing done again soon, and I hope to finish my "Blue heaven". Just a few more blocks now, and the top is soon done, ready to be quilted. Yeeha!

Summer holidays

It has been so long since the last time i joined "blogland", so I guess it's about time....
We have been having some lazy days, and just enjoying having some days off.
We haven't had the best summer temperatures, and it has been raining a lot between the few days with nice and sunny weather.
We have been having some trips to a place somewhere not so far away from where I grew up, and we had some cozy days fishing. We got some fish, too:-) It was so fun! Me and my family went there with my parents,my brother and his son.The fish didn't bite before late in the evening, so we did not get home from our trips before long past midnight:-) The kids thought it was a bit fun to be in the forest at night, I think:-) It was so nice to sit there by the fire and have some quality time with our family! We plan to do several more trips when when the weather gets better.

Since it has been so many rainy days, I have been spending a lot of time with my sewing machine. I got to so much process on several projects.
I am soon done with the main part of my scrap-quilt "My Blue Heaven". Just cannot figure out how huge I want it yet.... But I really love it! I did really get some stashbusting done here:-)

I also finished my hexagon quilt. I am not sure what border to put on, and least but not last: what pattern will look good on it when I start quilting it..... Any suggestions??? I would really love to have some:-)

I did also get to start on a quilt with red and neutrals. I'll put out some pictures when I'm getting some of the blocks done. I did find a free pattern at Judy Laquidara's homepage
It's called "Catch a spinning star". It's a block that's easy to use with several different colors, even scraps! I did buy two red fabrics for it when I went down at Quiltegården.
The rest will be from my stash.

Haven't been sewing so much lately, but today I did some progress on my scrap quilt "My blue heaven". I think the colors are lovely together, and I am actually surprised it turned out pretty nice. I also found out that the blue ones I thought was pretty dark, actually is not so dark after all... Anyone else had the same experience? All of the fabrics are still only from my stash, so I'm still stashbusting:-) *lol*
But I guess I'll have to go shopping for blue fabrics after this. I have almost used all of my blue ones, and since I have no scrap bin with blues (just a few pieces), I used 1/4 yard of the same print. As for the light ones, I had a lot of precut sraps to play with:-)
Hope to do more progress after work tomorrow.

Festfin frøken

Finally I got the table runner for the wedding ready on Friday, and on Saturday we went to the wedding, to celebrate our friends big day. It was such a lovely ceremony in the church, and the rest of the day where such a beautiful event. The bride, my best friend, was like taken from a fairytale, she was just so beautiful!! The weather was fine, too:-)



The original table runner is called "Festfin frøken", and is from the book called "Quiltegleder", by Rie Norum and Hilde Krogh. I did some changes on it, and made it a bit smaller than the original.
I made the circles by hand, and quilted it with some simple lines, and a border at the end. Since I did not quilt in the middle of the circles, I did sew a button in the middle with some multicolored DMC thread in greys. I really like the result myself:-)
All of the fabrics are from my stash, so still stashbusting:-)

Midsummer

So it is midsummer, and here in Norway we use to celebrate it with friends and having a barbecue together. BUT it is raining so much, and the temperature is so low, I instead spend the night inside, sewing.
I planned to put in some pictures of my latest projects, but I'm having some trouble with that. The blog wouldn't work with me:-( I guess I'll have to try later... Anyone else having trouble uploading pictures on their blog?

This weekend I finished a wedding gift for our friends' wedding next weekend. I just hope they'll like it....

Some projects going on...

I have been a bit busy, but have been sewing now and then this month. This weekend I was home alone with my sewing machine, since my kids and their dad had a trip to their grandparents cabin a couple of hours away from here. I did stay home to finish the wedding gift for our friends wedding next weekend, but I also did get the time do some other sewing. I will blog "the gift" after next weekend:-)

But some of the other things I've done the last month:
Star in a star blocks. I just love the pattern:-) Had to try some different ones:-)

And Darcie, I did a lot of doodling like you advised me to, and this is the result:

I know I will be practicing a hole lot more on this free motion pattern, but it is definitely worth it, it is just so lovely!

I used only fabrics from my stash on the two hexagon quilts. The first one (not quilted/finished) is going to be a bed spread, the other one, a big table runner for my mum:-)

I did also get some progress on the Orion star quilt for my oldest boy. He did pick out some other fabrics than I did, and after a trip to Quiltegården, this is the result so far:


This is only three of the color combinations, there is three more to go:-)







Today I started on a quilt I know I will use some time on, but it is so lovely. It's a quilt over at Bonnie's webpage. She has so many lovely quilts and patterns. It is called My Blue Heaven. A quilt with just two blocks, a puss in the corner block and an hour glass star block. I love it!

Stashbusting

Today i had a day off, and I had a wonderful time on my own, trying to reduce my stash! I did get some cutting done, and I have already started to try to put together two quilts. I just had to start on something new again, since the other projects I have started on earlier, is still not unpacked....
I got this pattern for the Hexagon quilt a long time before Christmas, and I just had to try to make something from it:-) I guess one will be a big tablerunner, and one will end up like a big scrapquilt. Look forward to get it sewn together and to get starting on the quilting.
I would really love to have some suggestions from you gals out there:-)

It is so fun to play around with all the lovely fabrics! It has been so long time since I did some serious sewing, because of our moving and the celebration of our son. But it was so fun to catch up with the sewing again. Maybe it was a bit healthy to have a little pause? I think so:-)

Konfirmasjon

Yesterday we had a celebration for our son Roy. We had a big family dinner and we had such a fine day. Our son is now a young man:-) He is such a fine young man, too, and looks so good in his suit!

After the ceremony inside the church, we took some pictures outside the church. It was raining a bit, but that didn't matter:-) Still smiling:-)

We had order a cake with a picture of him from when he was around six years old on it, as a surprise for him. This was really such a fine day for all of us:-)

I did get so inspired by Sharon Schamber's feathers, so I just had to try it! It is so fun, BUT OMG so hard to get the feathers look good. I have tried, and I guess I'll bee doing more of this:-) I do not have a machine with stitch regulator, so my stitches are NOT even... But oh so fun!

This weekend I couldn't keep my hands off the sewing machine any longer. I just had to sew something! I reduced some of my stash making a little wall hanging in some lovely blue and brown fabrics. My oldest son wanted to have it, but he wants me to make a big cozy pillow of it instead, so that is why it is no binding on it. I'll have to finish it later, because I have so much to do these days.


We are going to have a celebration for him in two weeks (Konfirmasjon). Today I made almost all of the cards for the dinner table with the name of everybody who is coming. He told me how he wanted them, and I made them for him.

Finally! Now we are done moving into our new home. We have waited so long for this, and we did spend the Easter Holidays moving. We where supposed to do so over a year ago, but now,the waiting process is over:-) I am so happy!!!
I haven't been able to do much sewing. Just some curtains for my kitchen windows. I have saved these fabrics for almost four years, to use for that project:-) lol, that is a long time... But this is how it turned out:We finally got to see how our kitchen looked like at the end. It has been stored away for a really long time. I am so satisfied with the result. I never dreamed of having such a nice kitchen, and I know I'll treasure it:-)

We are not done unpacking all of our stuff yet, but I hope we will be done within the end of May. Then I will spend a lot of time with my sewing and quilting, and look forward to that:-)

It has been so busy this month, so I have not had time to sew much... But that is ok, this time:-) We move into our new home on Friday this week. We are so excited!! We have waiting so long for this, and now it's time. I look forward to have a bigger room for my sewing machine and me, so I know it will be a hole lot of sewing when the Easter Holidays are over:-)

This is one of the quilts I hope to finish this year. I planned to have this one my self. I love the fabrics I did use, and I had such a job collecting the fabrics. But it was worth it! It is the True friends collection by Benartex/Nancy Halvorsen. If anyone have the blue one, with flowers on, and want to trade with me, I would be really happy! Just let me know:-)
